Treatment

At this time, there are no treatments designed for mpox.

However:

  • If you get your first dose of mpox vaccine five to fourteen days after exposure, it may ease your symptoms.
  • Doctors may give meds that treat smallpox, such as tecovirimat (TPOXX), to people who are more likely to get severely ill.
  • Most people with monkeypox get better within 2 to 4 weeks with no medical treatment.
